Its legacy is one of consistent maintenance, fair pricing for its time, and a welcoming atmosphere that made it a go-to for decades.

This overview aims to paint a picture of what Nordic Pines Resort Campground once offered, based on the experiences of real customers. It was known as a place where families returned year after year, drawn by its ability to provide a balanced camping experience – large enough for privacy, yet small enough to feel connected to essential amenities. Despite its closure, the insights from past campers highlight the key elements that contribute to a truly enjoyable Wisconsin camping trip: a family-friendly environment, well-maintained facilities, and proximity to natural attractions. While Nordic Pines Resort Campground is no longer accepting campers, this information serves to remember its contribution to Wisconsin's outdoor recreation scene and to guide locals on what to look for in alternative camping destinations in the beautiful Baraboo area.

Nordic Pines Resort Campground was formerly located at E11740 County Rd DL, Baraboo, WI 53913, USA. This prime address placed it in an incredibly advantageous position within the Baraboo region, a highly sought-after area in Sauk County, Wisconsin, particularly known for its stunning natural landscapes and recreational opportunities.

The accessibility of Nordic Pines Resort Campground was one of its most significant highlights for Wisconsin locals. Crucially, it was situated directly across the street from Devil's Lake State Park, making it walking distance to one of Wisconsin's most iconic and popular natural attractions. This meant campers had unparalleled ease of access to hiking, swimming, rock climbing, and other activities offered by the state park without the need for extensive driving or difficult parking, which can often be a challenge at Devil's Lake.

While Nordic Pines Resort Campground is unfortunately no longer open, its legacy illustrates why such a place was, and similar places remain, incredibly suitable for locals in the Wisconsin region. For decades, it provided an accessible and cherished gateway to the unparalleled natural beauty of the Baraboo area, particularly Devil's Lake State Park.

What made Nordic Pines so suitable for Wisconsin locals was its unique combination of convenience and comfort. Being within walking distance of Devil's Lake meant that residents could effortlessly engage in hiking, swimming, and exploring one of the state's most iconic natural wonders. This proximity eliminated the hassle of finding parking at the often-busy state park, making spontaneous excursions and full days of outdoor activity seamless. The "large sites" and the feeling that "you don't feel like everyone is on top of you" provided a sense of personal space often sought by campers, while the "short walk to flush toilets and running water" offered a level of comfort that elevated the camping experience beyond mere ruggedness.

Furthermore, the campground's long-standing reputation as "family friendly" with an updated play area underscored its appeal to a wide demographic, including those with children. The notion that "bathrooms are small, but cleaned every day, and are better than the bathrooms you'll get in the state park" highlighted a commitment to guest comfort and cleanliness, a factor highly valued by Wisconsin campers. Even the minor disappointment regarding shower charges, while noted, did not deter repeat visits, as evident by the long-term customer who "will definitely stay here again."

In essence, Nordic Pines Resort Campground embodied what many Wisconsin locals seek in a camping destination: a well-maintained, comfortable, and family-friendly environment with excellent access to prime natural attractions. While it is no longer operating, the characteristics that made it a "staple" for "decades" continue to define what makes other campgrounds in the Baraboo area and throughout Wisconsin so appealing for our residents' outdoor adventures.

(PERMANENTLY CLOSED) Review from 2019: We've been camping here for decades. They have done a decent job of maintaining the property and the cost of camp sites is fair compared to what's available in the area. It's a family friendly campground with a play area for kids, which was updated a few years ago. The sites are large and can accommodate a decent set up. The campground is small enough that every site is a short walk to flush toilets and running water, but large enough that you don't feel like everyone is on top of you. However, I'm disappointed that they continue to overcharge for the showers. $1 per person per day is outrageous. I'd rather they increase the daily rate for camp sites than to insult me by charging for hot water.

Quiet, small campground, super close to Devil's Lake. Bathrooms are small, but cleaned every day, and are better than the bathrooms you'll get in the state park! Great for tent camping. I wish they would impress upon campers as they check in that it is rude to make noise after 10pm. As I type this there are kids making a ton of noise a few sites down. Owners were super helpful when I made reservations. Will definitely stay here again.

TLUSA Troop WI-1885 had a great time at Nordic Pines this weekend. Management very accommodating arranging for site with electric hook up for one of our campers at last minute, prices on ice, grocery needs very reasonable compared to other campgrounds. Very much appreciated the no alcohol policy and quiet hours. Despite beautiful weather and crowds at Devils Lake the campgrounds were not overcrowded

My fiancee and I and our dog visited Nordic Pines this summer on the fourth of July weekend and we just wanted to say that we LOVED this campground!!! It was so close to Devils Lake we simply crossed the road and we were there, we didnt have to pay the parking at the lake. The bathrooms were so clean and the staff were very friendly-they let us borrow their wire grill to place on the fire pit so we could grill. we HIGHLY recommend this campground and will be back again for our next trip out!!

Very nice, clean, quiet, and comfortable campground! A far better option than the over-booked and crowded state campgrounds in Devil's lake. This was a VERY short walk across the street (maybe 200 yards further than the Quartzite state campground in the park), and without the state parking sticker requirements/fees.
