Raised my kids here.. now bringing grandkids here. Love it," speaks volumes about the lasting positive impact Twin Lakes Campground has had on families. Twin Lakes Campground Inc is situated on Audra Park Rd, Belington, WV 26250, USA. This address places it in a beautifully rural and "out of the way from city life" setting within Barbour County, West Virginia. Its location on Audra Park Road suggests it's in the vicinity of Audra State Park, a well-known natural attraction, which further enhances its appeal for outdoor enthusiasts.

For West Virginia locals, accessing Twin Lakes Campground typically involves navigating scenic, albeit potentially winding, country roads characteristic of the state's picturesque landscapes. While it's intentionally "out of the way," it remains accessible from main state routes that lead to the Belington area. Belington itself is a small, charming town that can provide basic necessities and local services. The intentionally remote feel means visitors should plan to arrive with most of their supplies, embracing the opportunity to truly disconnect. However, the journey to the campground is part of the experience, offering glimpses of West Virginia's natural beauty even before arrival. The fact that generations have returned to this location speaks to its inherent accessibility and the enduring appeal of its quiet setting, making it a feasible and rewarding destination for a local escape, allowing West Virginians to easily reach a haven of tranquility without venturing too far from home.

Twin Lakes Campground Inc provides a more rustic, back-to-basics camping experience, focusing on the natural environment and a friendly atmosphere. Based on the provided reviews, the services offered are centered around creating a comfortable and authentic outdoor retreat.

  • Campsites: The campground offers dedicated camping sites, implying spaces for tents and likely RVs. While specific hookup details (e.g., electric, water, sewer) are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, most established campgrounds offer some level of these services. Given the "out of the way" nature, it's possible some sites are more primitive.
  • Natural Surroundings: The core service is providing access to a beautiful natural setting, with "pond" access for viewing ducks and Canadian geese. This indicates a focus on natural recreation and immersion.
  • Friendly Owner/Management: A significant "service" highlighted by a reviewer is the "Awesome owner, very out of the way from city life." This personal, welcoming approach from management contributes greatly to the positive experience of campers.
  • Quiet Environment: While not a physical service, the inherent "out of the way" location and atmosphere ensure a quiet environment, a key offering for those seeking an escape from city noise.
  • Pet-Friendly (Implied): The mention of "Ducks and Canadian geese greet you at the pond" and the overall welcoming atmosphere suggest a likelihood of being pet-friendly, as many smaller, family-oriented campgrounds are, though direct confirmation would be needed.
  • Community Feel: The generational loyalty ("Grew up here. Raised my kids here.. now bringing grandkids here. Love it") points to a strong community feel, nurtured by the campground's long-standing presence and welcoming nature.

It is important for potential visitors to recognize that this campground seems to prioritize a simple, natural camping experience over extensive modern amenities. Campers should be prepared for a more traditional outdoor setup, bringing necessary supplies with them.

Twin Lakes Campground Inc stands out for several unique features and highlights that contribute to its charm and enduring popularity, particularly among local West Virginia families.

  • Generational Appeal: The most compelling highlight is its deep-rooted history with families: "Grew up here. Raised my kids here.. now bringing grandkids here. Love it." This speaks to the campground's ability to create lasting, cherished memories across generations, fostering a strong sense of nostalgia and belonging.
  • Truly "Out of the Way" Escape: For those genuinely seeking to disconnect, the campground's location is "very out of the way from city life." This ensures a peaceful, tranquil environment, free from urban noise and light pollution, allowing for genuine relaxation and immersion in nature.
  • Unique Natural Ambiance: The sounds of "Roosters across the street to let you know it's morning" and "Duck's and Canadian geese greet you at the pond" create a distinctive, rustic, and charming atmosphere. These natural "alarm clocks" and welcoming wildlife add to the authentic rural camping experience.
  • "Awesome Owner" and Friendly Atmosphere: The personal touch of an "Awesome owner" who contributes to a friendly atmosphere is a significant highlight. This suggests a responsive and welcoming management that enhances the overall guest experience.
  • Pond Access and Wildlife Viewing: The presence of a pond, frequented by ducks and Canadian geese, provides opportunities for peaceful wildlife observation and adds to the picturesque setting.
  • Quiet and Relaxing Environment: The combination of its remote location and natural sounds ensures a quiet and relaxing stay, perfect for unwinding and de-stressing.
  • Simple, Authentic Camping: Twin Lakes Campground offers a more traditional, less commercialized camping experience, appealing to those who prefer rustic charm over extensive modern amenities.
  • Potential for Long-Term Stays: The familial loyalty mentioned in reviews might suggest the possibility of seasonal or long-term sites, allowing regulars to establish a semi-permanent base. (This is an inference based on multi-generational loyalty, not explicitly stated).

As a privately-owned, family-oriented campground with a focus on long-term relationships (as suggested by multi-generational use), Twin Lakes Campground Inc may not advertise frequent, short-term "promotions or special offers" in the same way larger commercial parks might. Their value often comes from their consistent, welcoming environment and competitive long-term rates. However, here are potential avenues for special considerations for West Virginia locals:

  • Seasonal or Long-Term Rates: It is highly probable that the campground offers reduced rates for extended stays, such as weekly, monthly, or even seasonal rentals, given the deep loyalty of its multi-generational customers. This can be a significant saving for locals looking for a seasonal retreat.
  • Loyalty Benefits (Informal): A campground cherished by families over generations often fosters informal loyalty benefits. While not explicit "promotions," these could include preferred site assignments, flexibility for returning guests, or personalized service.
  • Direct Booking Advantage: Contacting the "Awesome owner" directly via phone may allow for more personalized discussions about rates, availability, and potentially any unadvertised deals, especially during off-peak times.

To discover any specific pricing structures beyond daily rates, or to inquire about potential discounts for longer stays, it is highly recommended for West Virginia residents to contact Twin Lakes Campground Inc directly by phone. A direct conversation with the owner would be the best way to understand any current offers or special arrangements for their valued local customers.

We had a seasonal site for a few years here. The owner's are not nice people!!! Constantly accusing us of things we didn't do! Constantly harassing us. We went to camp to relax. But we were always worrying about getting yelled at! And this place is definitely Not Kid Friendly!
